Left NJ...

...now if only I were really on my way to Alaska. But I'm not. I'm stuck in Salt Lake City, Utah overnight. Did you know that you can't order a glass of wine for room service in this state? No opened containers of alcohol allowed from the restuarant to the room. Also, did you know that if you wanted to order a glass of wine at the restuarant, you are required by state law to order food as well? Yeah. Utah is strange. Not that we didn't all know that before. I'm going to go for the early to bed stress relief method. Hopefully it works. So, in lieu of that. Goodnight.

P.S. - I'm now supposed to arrive in Anchorage at 6:30 p.m. tomorrow. Monday morning is going to suck.

More about my trip

Training is entirely over now. Most everyone else left yesterday afternoon/evening. I got to stay in the hotel an extra night though since I couldn't get a late enough flight for yesterday. So I leave the hotel today at 2 p.m., fly at 5:30 p.m. and arrive in Anchorage at around midnight. I'm definitely ready to get home, although I definitely enjoyed my time here and am going to miss the people and excitement. Not that there isn't excitement at home. :S I return to a car that won't start without me putting my head under the steering wheel and reaching far to push the damn starter button. Dammit I need a new car. Anyways. I do get to return to my cute little apartment though. I still need furniture, but I like it regardless. Cause it's mine. I don't have to share it, or deal with a roommate, or anything. Although I wouldn't mind if John came to visit for awhile.

Anyways, I was talking about my trip. I've met a whole lot of people while I've been here, and some more particularly. I've got a few good people to call when I have questions about nearly anything. And I met a few really nice people from the Portland, OR office, which is where I may want to transfer after a couple years.

But yes, I'm ready to go home. Training has been fun, both in class and out. But it's time to go home and get some sleep.

Training in Montvale, New Jersey

I've been here at training for my new job since Sunday evening. Flying here was fun. Brad dropped me off at the airport at midnight, the flight left at 2 a.m., and it was after 4 p.m. (ET) when I arrived at the JFK airport. Then it took about an hour to get my luggage, an hour drive to the hotel, and it was around 6:30 p.m. when I was finally done traveling. It was a long day with very little sleep. Hm... that seems to be the general idea of the whole week actually. Long days with little sleep. I got 8 hours of sleep one night. I think that was Tuesday night. It didn't do that much good though. I was still tired the next day though.

...will finish updating later. Class is starting again.

Internet, moving in, etc.

I don't have internet in my apartment yet, and have decided that I'm going to wait a couple weeks until I get back from training in New Jersey before I get it hooked up. I'll also see about getting a phone and that sort of stuff then too. In the meantime, I've got my cell phone, and I'll drop by the library occasionally to get online and check emails and such.

I do have an address here now, which I will send out via email to those who have asked for it, or who I think might want it. If you by chance do not get a copy of this email and do want my address, email me or reply to this post and I will send it to you a.s.a.p.

Moving in has been fun and actually not that troublesome. Although I need a bit of furniture before I can really feel moved in. But it's looking pretty decent. And I have my own kitchen!!! This makes me so happy! I also have my own washer and dryer, which is so very nice. No laundramat for me! Or quarter pushin' either.

Anyways, that's all for now. I start work tomorrow and will try to post again later this week after work gets started.

Pics again

I've gotten dreadfully behind on posting pictures again. In fact, I hadn't even taken them off my camera since mid-November! Oh well, they're off my camera now and a few select ones are posted below. If I missed anything that you think I should have a picture of, let me know and I'll see if I have one of it.
Here's the building I'll be working in again, starting Monday. And actually, I'm in the shorter tower on the left. Posted by Picasa

This is the quilt that John's mom made for me for Christmas. And it's on my new bed in my new apartment. Isn't it beautiful! I'll post pictures of the rest of my apartment when it looks a bit more unpacked and settled... Warning: it might be awhile. Posted by Picasa
This is the afghan I made for John for Christmas. He loves it. :D I'm glad, cause it sure took a long time to make! Posted by Picasa
Here's my hair all done up in tinfoil at my favorite hairdresser's place in Wrangell. I got highlights and lowlights again, along with the mandatory trim. Posted by Picasa
Here's a pic of my new computer. Sorry it took so long to post Kate. Posted by Picasa

5 Weird Habits

Ground rules: The first player of this "game" starts with the topic "5 weird habits
of yours" and people who get tagged need to write an LJ entry about
their 5 quirky habits as well as state this rule clearly. In the end,
you need to choose the next 5 people to be tagged and list their names.

1. Any time I am dealing with cash, even monopoly money, all the bills HAVE to be facing the same direction.
2. Quite frequently my breakfast will consist of a bowl with grapenuts at the bottom, some honey dribbled on them, then cheerios on top to fill the bowl, with raisins on top of that. Pour in some 2% milk and that's my typical breakfast.
3. When I'm bored, nervous, frustrated, and at random other times, I begin twisting my hair around my index finger. (I'm doing it right now, cause I hate trying to think of things like this.)
4. I hound my friends for ideas of how to answer things like this. (See above parenthetical.)
5. I have conversations with people I know, or don't know, in my head. I can hear, in my mind, exactly what and how they would respond to something, usually in their voice too. Often they're conversations I really want to have with that person, but either are afraid to, or they aren't around to have the conversation with. (Maybe this isn't weird, maybe it's just something people don't tend to tell others about. *shrug*)

I tag: John, Kate, Brad, Jessica, Gregg.
