You know what I really want? I want a system where I can have a tablet of some sort (not too heavy or large) that will allow me to sit comfortably somewhere with my school books laid around me and I can "write" with a pen-like object. This pen-like object would work both as a pen and a mouse and would interface perfectly with Microsoft Excel. I would be able to write numbers into cells, arrange things exactly the way I want, draw borders, drag things, anything I might want to do while working out a homework problem in Excel. I would have to have all the functions and capabilities that I traditionally have in Excel (or more would always be nice), but in my hand in a pen form working on a tablet. Now of course Excel isn't the only program this would have to interface with, but seeing as I'm doing my Advanced Accounting hw right now (consolidations and the works), that's what I'm most interested at the moment.
If this exists as such, please let me know! And then get it for me as either an early birthday or christmas present. :D Thanks!

Yup, such a system exists. It's called a Tablet PC. John had one up here for a week or so, playing with it, and the things are spiffy as all hell! Unfortunately, they cost approximately an arm, a leg, your right kidney and your firstborn.
I'm not convinced a Tablet PC will really do everything I want though. I know, I'm probably being picky. And John will probably come back and say that yes, in fact it will do all I want it to do. But I'm going to be unbelieving until I have one in my hand to try. And yeah, I know they cost a lot. I looked at them briefly... at least they're cheaper than my current laptop was. *grimace* I'm still waiting for someone to volunteer to buy it for me! ;)
When I become a famous and rich park ranger I'll buy one for you. HA!! A rich park ranger... that's funny. :-)
Yay! You will be. I'm sure of it! Not sure how... maybe you'll marry a rich doctor or something. ;)
